Op zaterdag 27 augustus vond het eerste ontmoetingsmoment van het project 'Op het kruispunt: voor LGBTI+ personen met een handicap' plaats in de Zebrastraat in Gent. Dáithí, vrijwilliger bij Casa Rosa, nam deel aan deze prachtige dag met leuke workshops, activiteiten en ontmoetingen. Je leest hun verslag van de dag hieronder!
I recently attended the the first event of the project “At the crossroads: for LGBTI+ persons with a disability” at Zebrastraat in Ghent.
The day started with everyone gathered in the downstairs salon for coffee and chat from which the first lovely encounters resulted. Afterwards, we moved upstairs for a presentation from some of the participating NGOs, including Çavaria, KLIQ, Konekt and Inter. Then it was time for some action. Everyone was free to choose some activities to participate in, including a talent workshop, a make your own Pride accessories workshop, an art tour through the site, a glitter face creation workshop and a brainstorm session about the theme of the day: inclusion, accessibility and diversity. The day-long event wrapped up with a delicious lunch and even more valuable encounters with other participants.
It was great to be in the company of a rainbow family of people of all different ages, colours, ethnicities, gender identities, AND abilities. The organisers did a brilliant job of providing a safe and accessible space for everyone to gather and celebrate our queer energy. This is the way the world should be, but too often is not. I am very grateful to the organising parties to help break down barriers so ALL queer people can come together to live, laugh and love.

Met het project Op het kruispunt: voor LGBTI+ personen met een handicap werken we samen met 8 partners aan tools en expertise om onze organisaties inclusiever te maken voor LGBTI+ mensen met fysieke, mentale, verstandelijke of zintuiglijke beperkingen. Het project wordt gerealiseerd met de steun van het Fonds De Warmste Week, beheerd door de Koning Boudewijnstichting. Het project duurt één jaar en eindigt in december 2022.
Voor dit project werken we samen met: çavaria, Inter, GRIP, Transgender Infopunt, Konekt, Aut&Out, Unique RBH en Intersekse Vlaanderen
